Chromium picolinate

Chromium picolinate is gained by complexed with picolinic acid and trivalent chromium and purified, separated, and dried. It is fuchsia crystal powder, shiny, good fluidity, stable at room temperature, and slightly soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol. Picolinic acid is the metabolite of amino acid exited in the liver and kidneys of humans and mammals and combined with Cr3+ to form chromium picolinate. The chromium picolinate can be well absorbed by the human body and increase the amount of active AMP protein kinase (AMPK) involved in metabolic pathways in skeletal muscle cells, thereby improving balance of energy  and insulin.

In China, the Regulations and Review of Nutrient Supplements issued in 2005, chromium picolinate is used as a source of chromium nutrient supplement compounds. It is safe to use in the field of health foods. Overseas, EU No238/97 has listed chromium picolinate as a new food ingredient.
